Introduction

WorldPredict ("we", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes what personal data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding your data, in accordance with GDPR and Apple App Store requirements.

1. Data We Collect

When you register and use the app, we collect:

  • Identifiers: email address, username
  • Authentication: encrypted password (bcrypt, never in plaintext)
  • User content: predictions, bracket predictions, profile picture (URL)
  • Activity: joined groups, scores and rankings
  • Technical data: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens (push notifications)

We do not collect: phone number, location data, biometric data, financial data, browsing history.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Create and manage your user account
  • Display your predictions and ranking
  • Manage private groups and invitations
  • Send push notifications (match results, reminders)
  • Ensure security and prevent abuse

Your data is never sold, rented or shared for commercial or advertising purposes.

3. Data Linked to You (App Store)

In accordance with Apple requirements, here are the categories of data linked to your account:

No data is used to track you across other apps or websites.

4. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase (Google): used for push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging). Google may process device tokens in accordance with its privacy policy.
  • API-Football: public match data (teams, scores). No personal data is transmitted.

These third-party services have their own privacy policies. We do not share any personally identifiable data with them beyond what is strictly necessary for operation.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your personal data (email, username, predictions, profile picture) will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.

6. Account Deletion

In accordance with Apple\u2019s rules, you can delete your account and all associated data:

Deletion results in permanent removal of: your email address, username, predictions, avatar and all groups you created.

7. Your Rights

Under GDPR and applicable laws, you have the following rights:

  • Access: obtain a copy of your data
  • Rectification: correct your information from your profile
  • Erasure: request complete deletion of your account
  • Objection: object to certain processing
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured format

8. Children\u2019s Privacy

WorldPredict is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures: password encryption (bcrypt), HTTPS connections, restricted database access. No system is foolproof, but we do our best to protect your data.

10. Cookies and Local Storage

We only use session cookies to maintain your login. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used. The mobile app uses local storage only to remember your preferences (language, theme).

11. Policy Updates

We may update this privacy policy. In case of significant changes, we will notify you via the app or by email. The last updated date is shown at the top of this page.
